Hello and welcome to dA!!

You are a starter with a lot of questions, but you do not know what questions, since... - how could you know what there is to know if you don't know that you should know??
Here is what I would have loved to know from the beginning. I am updating this journal constantly, so you can check back :)

Language struggles

In order to understand deviantART better it might be useful to read the official FAQ in your naitive language. If this is not english, I recommend to visit
:iconinternationalfaq: and find your naitive language translation. If you have troubles, note the group - there will be helpful people to forward you to somebody who speaks your language, if such a person is availiable :)

Please not the following Disclaimer

The groups translations are not official translations and can potentially become out of date or inaccurate if the FAQ is ever updated. We advise you to check on the corresponding FAQ, by clicking here, for more details.

Arabic (العربية) Bulgarian (български език) Catalan (Català) Chinese (中文) Czech (Čeština)  Dutch (Nederlands) Finnish (Suomi) French (Français) German (Deutsch) Greek (Ελληνικά) Hebrew (עִבְרִית) Hungarian (Magyar nyelvű) Italian (Italiano) Japanese (日本語) Lithuanian (Lietuvių kalba) Malay (Bahasa Melayu) Norwegian (Norsk) Persian (پارسی) Polish (Polski) Portuguese (Português) Romana (Romanian) Russian (русский) Spanish (Español) Swedish (Svenska) Tagalog (Tagalog) Turkish (Türkçe) Urdu (اردو) Welsh (Cymraeg)

If any of the links get outdated, I would appreciate if you could comment below, so I can refresh them :)

Customization for non-premium members

You might have noticed some fancy profile pages, or journal-skins. And you might have found out, that only premium-members are able to customize their profile and use fancy skins.
But this is not entirely correct. There are some backdoors, and here are some examples how you can make your own site fancy tooooo:

dA Guide: Text Formatting
This is just a quick text formatting guide for dA. My goal was to make a simple html guide for easy reference.  Please PAY ATTENTION to where the codes WILL and WILL NOT work!  (Certain codes won't work in comments and deviation descriptions, no matter how hard you try.)  :'D

I provided "working examples," which might make the codes easier to understand because you can see them in action. (Keep in mind that when you type html tags, the effects won't be visible until AFTER you hit "Preview" on your comment, journal, etc. I only made them visible for the purpose of demonstration.) Enjoy!!!

The following codes can be used in
comments, deviation descriptions, journals, and profile page widgets.

This will make bold text.
This will also make bold text.
This will make italicized text.

How to report art theft on dA by Stock-By-Crystal   CEA Blog: How to Submit an Abuse ReportHi deviants!
Today I would like to address an issue that unfortunately happens quite often in abuse reports filed to our support center. We've had guides and articles written about this in the past but we felt it was time for a refresher!
So what is an "Abuse Report"?
The Abuse Report category is where a deviant would file their ticket under if they are being harassed or  was witness to someone else being harassed out there in our community. Not knowing where to go or what to do when this happens understandably only adds to the problem!
Before anything else, please remember that abuse reports are only for the most severe of harassment issues. Things like disagreements, debates, general rudeness one might experience due to the anonymity of the internet or personal drama you may have with another deviant are some minor issues that can be easily handled by taking advantage of our Hide and

Managing Your Deviations- A Hidden Menu!Community Week
Did You Know...
...DeviantART has a mass storage system of all your gallery deviations?...you can manage all of your gallery deviations from one location?...you can move deviations into "Storage" and essentially remove them from your gallery while preserving the page view, favorite, download, and other statistics?
THIS IS ALL 100% POSSIBLE!

Many of us have deviations in our galleries that you no longer have the computer file for and would be devastated if you lost them… Ever thought, "I really don't want to download each deviation to my computer or sta.sh but I just don't want them in my gallery any longer! Then there's a handful of deviations I want to turn off comments for. I wonder if this can be done all at once?" If this is you... Keep Reading! :eager:

Do's and don'ts for flawless interactionNot much to say about this.
Just some basic tips and tricks for flawless interaction on DeviantArt Nod
Watching
Do
:bulletyellow: Watch people when you honestly find them interesting.
:bulletyellow: Watch your friends, even if they don't have amazing art. It helps you stay updated with their progress.
:bulletyellow: Watch groups. They'll offer you a fine selection of art you're interested in, and will help you discover new (interesting) artists.
:bulletyellow: Check the faves of people you watch. As you like their work, you might have similar tastes in art. Checking their faves might help you find cool art.
:bulletyellow: Recommend art from people that you watch for a Daily Deviation (if good art, of course).
Don't
:bulletyellow: Uncheck all boxes when watching. There's nothing more disappointing than an empty watch.

Dont be sorry to ask :)
You might have submitted to your "Scraps"-Folder. That one is only visible, if your visitor click on it when visiting your gallery. Also your watchers dont get notified if they have not enabled that manually.
But I took a look at your gallery: Your works seem to be uploaded just fine. You have a mature content filter on a lot of your works, even though there is no mature content on them at all. Just open the deviation, click edit on the top right side. Now your upload screen appears. Right underneath the image you read "contains mature content?" - tick "no" - and then press submit.
Now the picture should be displayed just fine.

Let me know if it works for you - or if not.
Greez,
Mel

The correspondence messages are a certain kind of messages in an area of your message center. If you get faves on your works, or mentions somewhere along dA, this will belong to correspondence messages. Comments and replies are another category, and watch-stacks are the third one :)
